First Large Mouth bass of the year
I caught this fish on a #3 Mepps
black fury with a white color pattern. The water was clear enough for me to see this bass come off the bottom to attack the lure. When I set the hook I it felt like I had hooked a snag on the bottom but I knew I had a fish on the line. This fish dove to the bottom but I put a steady pressure on the rod to bring it to the surface where it gave at least three spectacular jumps from the water trying to throw the hook. I finally landed it using my brand new catch and release net. After a couple of quick pictures I returned it to water so that it could live on to fight another day.

I delayed posting this trip because the Brookline reservoir gets a lot of fishing pressure from baggers. My hope is that if you are lucky enough to catch this fish please treat it kindly and release it back into the reservoir.
